“Swirl Sniff Sip like a Dervish” That’s what the winery says. Obviously a nod to term Whirling Dervish. Oh! “What’s a Whirling Dervish?” You Ask! Dervishes are a Sufi Muslim sect (also called the Mevlevi Order). They are famous for their spinning dance, which is done in remembrance and praise to Allah. Although the dance is a serious part of their ritual, it has become a popular tourist attraction in Turkey. Enough with the cultural lesson for today… Now onto the wine. Swirling Dervish Chardonnay is light yellow in color, and has a grassy herbaceous quality on the nose.It envelops the entire mouth with a lasting pleasant finish. The winery states mango and pineapple notes… well I’m not picking up on much of that, but it sure is good. This one’s not overly oaked or oppressive in nature. I paired it with some low rent sharp cheddar that had from the party the night before, and it went together right well. A Great Every Day Chardonnay! $5.99 (Pa) $8-$12 Average
